Fall 2025: Visiting Högbo Brukshotell

For an 84coder, August often means workaway season. How you spend your June-August can look a bit different depending on where you live and the choices you make. Regardless if these months mean working from an office, working from wherever or not working at all and instead spending time in a sun bed, it’s a really nice way to kick off fall with a week together with your colleagues.

The scouting for the spot of the year was impressive. The location was Högbo Brukshotell, a place few of us had heard of before, but once we arrived, it was clear why it had been chosen. Högbo Brukshotell is surrounded by the beautiful nature of Gästrikland in Sweden, not far from Sandviken and Gävle.

The hotel offered excellent conference spaces, a spa, mountain biking trails, and plenty of activities. Many of us were surprised by how easy the travel was, even with team members coming from the US and southern Europe.

In these peaceful environments we got to spend four days focusing on workshops, discussing LavinMQ and CloudAMQP roadmaps, having great dinners and fueled our brains with oxygen between the work slots. As a joint activity, this time we tried both blacksmithing and glass blowing, something we have never done before but really enjoyed.

This workaway brought a lot of new insights, well-needed discussions and new collaborations to the table that will be visible throughout the fall. We also have exciting things in the pipeline for both LavinMQ and CloudAMQP and we couldn’t have asked for a better energy boost to kick off fall. We hope you will join the journey!

It wouldn’t surprise anyone if 84codes returns to Högbo soon.
